OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe that all children have a voice that is to be respected, valued, and promoted through play-based learning opportunities.

We advocate for the rights of all children and always act in their best interests by promoting their social, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.

Our relationships with children and families and our community are founded on our Christian beliefs. We teach the Bible is God’s word and it teaches us that God created, loves and cares for all of us.

We believe that it is important to build strong relationships with children, so they feel safe, secure, and supported and families feel confident in our abilities as educators to provide high quality care for their children.

We believe that children are competent and capable learners. We value and support the children’s individual strengths, abilities and knowledge and use these to extend their learning and growth through play-based educational programs which help the children to reach their full potential.

We acknowledge each child’s culture, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and we respect their connection to the land, water, animals, and communities. We support children to accept, understand and celebrate everyone’s individuality.

We recognise and embrace the connections between each child, their families and the community and value the importance of working together in partnership.

We teach children to protect and care for the world God has created. We promote sustainable practices throughout our educational programs and incorporate natural materials in our learning environments.

We are committed to ongoing learning and reflective practices, enabling us to work to our full potential. We value and respect each educator as an individual with different backgrounds, perspectives, and knowledge to share.

This philosophy was produced in collaboration with the Good Shepherd community including – our staff team, the Community Advisory Group, LEVNT (approved provider), parents and families.

OUR TEAM

The Good Shepherd team comprises of the Service Leader, Assistant Service Leader and Pedagogical Leader who support our Early Childhood Teachers, Room Leaders and Educators to provide quality education programs for children from 6 weeks to 6 years.

Our educators have a shared vision and work together to support children throughout their educational journey at the service. All educators are warm and caring in their approach and have a genuine passion for early childhood education.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Congregation supports the service to share God’s love with our whole service community through the provision of a Pastoral Care and Outreach Worker and resources to share with children and families.
